Stephen Allen, a native of Ogden, Utah, received degrees in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music and San Jose State University.  He earned his doctoral degree in piano pedagogy and literature from the University of Indiana, where he attained additional degrees in both music education and musicology.  His solo performances include appearances throughout the United States and Japan.  As an active chamber musician he has performed frequently, including recent invitations to perform for the International Double Reed Society.  A frequent adjudicator, Dr. Allen is currently director of piano studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he has taught since 1986.  He and his wife, Rebecca, are the parents of four children.
