IMPORTANT: Schedules, assignments, and policies are subject to change, but students will be given advance notification of any changes.
General Information:
Your internship is intended to allow you the following opportunities:
1. Perform some engineering work and get a feel for what you may be doing after graduation.
2. Apply some of the skills you have learned in your course work.
3. Be mentored by an engineer regarding professional life and career success, as well as
technical knowledge.
4. Open the door to future full-time employment with the organization after graduation.
The reports described below should address these four points.
Contact Information:
Within 48 hours of arriving at your destination, Email Bro Fisher (FisherR@byui.edu) with contact information:
1. Apartment address.
2. Telephone number(s).
3. Email address you will be using.
Initial Status Report:
After your first week, send Bro. Fisher an Initial Status Report report that lists:
1. Initial impressions you have of the company.
2. Project(s) you will be doing.
3. Your supervisor's name and Email address.
4. Any other noteworthy information you would like to include.
Interim Status Reports:
There will be two of these interim status reports.
About three weeks after sending the initial report described above, send Bro. Fisher the first Interim Status Report that lists:
1. Progress on project(s).
2. Important things learned.
3. How you are generally getting along.
Send the second Interim Status Report four to six weeks after the first one.
Final Internship Report:
One week before the end of the semester, send Bro. Fisher a Final Internship Report that includes:
1. Your final impressions of the company where you worked and an explanation of why or why not you would like to work there after graduation.
2. A summary of the project(s) you worked on and what you learned from them.
3. A copy of the thank you note you sent (or will send) your supervisor.
Your actual internship may last beyond this date, but the University has a deadline for grade submission.
Internship Self Evaluation:
One week before the end of the semester, fill out the online Internship Experience Self Evaluation at http://www.byui.edu/internships.
Note: The University will not post your grade unless this is completed!
