Scott W. Galer began teaching Mandarin Chinese language and Chinese literature and culture at BYU-Idaho in 1998. He earned BA and MA degrees in Chinese at Brigham Young University (1992) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (1995), and a Ph.D. (Chinese) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2003). Dr. Galer served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Taichung, Taiwan and has worked, studied, and traveled broadly in the PRC. He also serves as a director on the board of the China Rural Education Foundation .
When not teaching or studying, Galer enjoys spending time with his
family, reading, cycling, making photographs, and traveling.
