Meeting #1: Things To Do Over Christmas (12/4/01)
Business:
1. Communication:
Make sure to respond to e-mails so we know you have the information
Check e-mail often-at least once a week.
If you don’t have e-mail, consider getting it-or asking a roommate if they’ll print out messages for you

2. Next semester’s meetings. Tuesdays at 5?
3. Check information list-correct AND give us any new information for next semester.
4. Places to stay for the week in Rexburg. How many are thinking of a dorm??
5. I need a copy of your passport (the page with your picture on it).

Stuff to do at home:
1. Passport
Completed passport application. (Available in the County Clerk’s Office. You can fill it out there in the office.)
A certified state birth certificate or your last passport. (They’ll return it to you.)
Two (2) 2"x2" passport photos. (They need to be actual passport pictures.)
Photo ID (Drivers license etc.)
$45.00 in a money order, cashier’s check or personal check made out to Passport Services. NOT CASH
$15 processing fee for Madison County. (The fee at your county may be different.)
Where: Any County Clerk’s office. Madison County Courthouse 134 E.Main. Open 9-5 M-F.

21198. Figure out spending money: credit cards, debit cards, travelers’ checks, cash. Travelers’ checks and a little cash are best. Sign travelers’ checks with the EXACT name on your passport

3. Medical (get your medical records from home or check with your doctor)
SHOTS. The CDC recommends the same shots for Western Europe. See http://www.cdc.gov/travel/camerica.htm The CDC Recommends the Following Vaccines:
Hepatitis A or immune globulin (IG). (Some health departments also say Hepatitis B.)
Typhoid
As needed, booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria and measles.
See your doctor at least 4-6 weeks before our trip to allow time for immunizations to take effect.
b. Most doctors also recommend malaria pills
Make sure to have full prescriptions, enough contacts, etc.

4. Stuff to buy/Christmas stuff:

5. Things to think about
Start gathering stuff, making lists. Then take out stuff you don’t need.
Figure out what classes you might want to take (Anth350/340, BS118, Com102, Rel.122, Soc112, Span211, FA100)
Tuition, $104/credit up to $620.
Figure out how much stuff (toiletries, vitamins, etc.) you use in a month (4oz. of shampoo.)
Flights home. Return flights: June 4, Guatemala City-Houston 12:53-4:30p.m. Houston-SLC 8:51-11:00p.m.
Scuba. Through Continuing Education. $220. Thurs., 5-8p, 1/24-2/28 OR 3/7-4/18. Neither the class nor scuba expenses while on the tour are included in tour costs.
