3. Purchase an iClicker (unless you already have one).

4. Purchase Gary Marshall's Liberty: The Delights and the Responsibilities -- American Foundations 101 Notebook and Readings, 2010 edition. (Available in the University Store.)

Extra credit option for Exam #1. For those who earned an F or a D grade on Exam #1, you may receive additional points to move your grade between a D and a C grade by doing the following:

  • View "A More Perfect Union" in its entirety. The URL address is listed below under "Resources"
  • Type up a 2000-plus word summary explaining:
    1. The significant events that occurred;
    2. The main characters involved and what they did that was significant;
    3. The ideas and issues with which they struggled.
  • Due Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Hand it in to Br. Marrott at the beginning of the class.

This option will not be available on the subsequent Exams. Study diligently and effectively for the upcoming Exams.

Students who got A-s, Bs, and Cs can also have their grades raised by doing the "A More Perfect Union" paper, but the grade will only rise one "notch," e.g., from a B to a B+.

Exam #2 opens in the Testing Center on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, and closes on Friday evening, February 19, 2010. Exam #2 comprises Topics 9-12 (pp. 121-222). Be sure to study the excerpts from Madison's Notes in the "Supplemental Reading" as indicated in the "Basic Ideas & Principles." Late takes are open until Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 9:00 p.m.
