Isaiah Project

20 points.

Due Date: To be announced.

Format: as a normal research paper: normal-sized fonts, double spacing (or 1-1/2 spacing), etc.

Objective: (1) To list sources from the McKay Library and from the Internet which provide commentary on at least two Isaiah chapter sections in the Book of Mormon and (2) to briefly explain how the research helped in understanding the Isaiah passages.

Select two (2) sections of Book of Mormon Isaiah from this list:

A. 1 Ne 20 (Isa 48) & 1 Ne 21 (Isa 49) G. 2 Ne 18-19 (Isa 8-9)
B. 2 Ne 7  (Isa 50) & 2 Ne 8 (Isa 51; 52:1-2) H. 2 Ne 20 (Isa 10)

D. 2 Ne 13-14 (Isa 3-4) J. 2 Ne 23 (Isa 13)

F. 2 Ne 16-17 (Isa 6-7) L. Mosi 14 (Isa 53)

 

Grading. Your project consists of five (5) distinct parts. Be sure to separate the parts into distinctive sections in the order given below:

1. Isaiah chapters. List the two selections you have chosen from the above list. Explain why you chose the two that you selected.

2. Library book research--Bible dictionaries. List at least two (2) different Bible dictionaries or encyclopedias (biblical or regular--not including the one in the back of the LDS edition of the Bible), which clarify Isaiah material for the two sections that you have selected from the above list.

3. Library book research--Scholarly biblical commentary clarifications. List at least three (3) different Old Testament, Bible, or Isaiah commentaries which helped you understand Isaiah in the Book of Mormon for the two sections that you selected from the above list.

4. Internet sources. List at least two (2) Internet sources that provide information that clarify Isaiah passages found in the Book of Mormon for the two sections that you selected from the above list.

Bibliography or Reference List. Use proper format in listing the sources you researched. For example:
