How To Do Worksheets -- Study Guides -- Take-Home Tests

Purposes:

The Worksheets are designed to take you through the text of the scriptures and of articles. The questions have been composed (1) to make you think, (2) to help you locate doctrines and facts in context, and (3) to help you search through scripture chapters and through articles to find particular facts, ideas, or doctrines, using what may sometimes seem to be trivial items. Some of the questions are to help you look for the main points of a chapter or an article. Those who look beyond the mere answering of questions will see that Worksheets were not designed to be "busy-work."

Format

Three components of Worksheets (Study Guides or Take-Home Tests): (1) the articles, information, or data, (2) the questions, and (3) the answers.

(1) The articles are obtained from the Current Assignments page or from the Documents List, which is accessible from the Home Page.

(2) The questions are obtained only from the Current Assignments Page on the Internet.

(3) The answers which you will submit will generally be on Scantron computer"bubble" sheets. These sheets will usually be distributed to you in class. There is a possibility that the answers may be submitted using Blackboard.

(4) Optional: Worksheets can be group-work. You may work with others in completing Worksheets; in fact, it is recommended and encouraged.

Grading Worksheets -- Study Guides -- Take Home Tests:

Points will be awarded based on the percentage of correct answers. 10 points are possible on each Worksheet or Study Guide.

96-100% =10 points 60-69% = 6 points
90-95% = 9 points 50-59% = 5 points
80-89%= 8 points 40-49% = 4 points
70-79% = 7 points 0-39% = 0 points

For example, a student scores 63 of 70 on a Worksheet assignment. That is 90%, and the grade is 9 points.

Late Worksheets are not accepted. The only exceptions would be for BYU-I officially excused absences or extreme medical situations (hospitalization, quarantines, etc.). Normal illnesses, weddings, honeymoons, missionary associations, etc., do not qualify as exceptions.

You should keep your returned papers as proof of grade should an error be made entering your scores on the computer.

Rarely will I make exceptions to these rules, and any exception made may result in a loss of points. If you are unable to comply with any of the procedures and requirements, see your instructor.
