Eye and Ear helps

Tympanic verses myringic: Tympan/o mean middle ear, myring/o means ear drum. You must use tympanic membrane to mean ear drum when the tympan/o word root is chosen, but myrinitis mean inflammation of the ear drum.

Optic means vision and eye

Opthalmic means eye

Opthalmalogist are Medical Doctors and works with any disease of the eye including vision problems, while Optometrist are not Medical Doctors and just check for vision problems.

Otorhinolaryngologist/Otolaryngologist are Medical Doctors that treat and diagnosis hearing and other problems of the nose, ears, larynx, and throat / ears and larynx.

Audiologist on the other hand are not Medical Doctors, but test for and fit hearing aid devices.
