Design Evaluation Notebook
A pictorial notebook will be required which will include a minimum of twelve photographs, each mounted on a separate page with a detailed explanation of its content.
These pictures should be of various floral arrangements in a variety of room settings, as would be found in home & garden and interior decorating magazines. There are some magazines in the media lab at the library that can be cut up, as well as some magazines in the floral lab. You may need to purchase some of the pictures you choose to use.
The detailed explanation of each arrangement, in outline form, must include:
1: identification of the flowers used
2: color harmonies within the design
3: description of the style, shape, & origin of the arrangement
4: discussion of how the bouquet relates with the setting
5: reference to the source for each picture (ie.page 34, Architectural Digest, May'07)
This is an exercise in observation and judgement. The purpose is to expose us to a broad variety of styles and designs, learn to recognize the elements of good, quality design, and develop a vocabulary of floral terminology.
