4. Curriculum and a variety of approaches on how to offer continuing education to nurse managers and leaders throughout Idaho. This material has been successfully transferred to the Division of Technical/Professional Education in insure its ongoing availability to Idaho nurses, updating and providing the nurse refresher course to nurses in Idaho and surrounding states.
5. Undertaking media activities designed to help the public understand the various roles and educational levels of nurses, and information about the Commission.
6. Piloting, in conjunction with the Idaho Organization of Nurse Executives, the 6th grade project to encourage young children across Idaho to chose nursing as a career.
7. Creating a statewide dialogue on the nursing shortage and the need to take action through “White Paper” analysis. Successful legislation requesting that the State Board of Education take a larger role in strategic planning for nurse education.
8. Promoting policy decisions in nursing and health professions based on actual data and advocating a permanent home for work of this nature in a Nursing workforce Center.
9. Undertaking the major task of restructuring the commission to provide a broader membership and financial base fro the future and creating an ICNNE web-site to provide a focal point for information dissemination on Commission Work and nursing workforce issues.
