Lynn Ruth Firestone

Dr. Lynn Firestone, a native of Western Pennsylvania, has taught in the Ricks College/ BYU-Idaho Biology Department since July 1989. She attended Slippery Rock State University and a regional campus of Penn State University. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, she transferred to BYU in Provo where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Zoology and Secondary Education. She also did graduate work at BYU-Provo where she earned her Master of Science degree in Botany. After working for a time on a PhD in Plant Systematics at Utah State University, Dr. Firestone transferred to a Doctor of Arts program in Biology at Idaho State University where she graduated with D.A. in Biology in 1993. Currently she is heading up the Biology Education program at BYU-Idaho and works with both Biology and Earth Science education majors in methods and practicum teaching courses. Dr. Firestone also teaches Family History and Evolutionary Biology. Currently she is on a committee developing a new integrated science course for Elementary Education majors.
