sebaceous glands-secrete sebum, oil, into the hair follicles where the hair shafts passes through the dermis

subcutaneous-lower layer of skin. contain mostly fat tissue.

cellulitis-inflammation of the connective tissue leading to redness and swelling

contusion-injury to the skin without the skin being broken

eczema-non-bacterial inflammation of the skin causing redness, blisters, scabs, and itching

fissure-small tear of the skin

furuncle-boil, inflammation of a larger area of the skin by the staphylococcus bacteria

gangrene-death of tissue, quickly followed by bacteria invading the tissue

herpes-cold sore, inflammation of the skin by several different viruses

impetigo-bacterial infection of the skin, characterized by pus and redness

laceration-cut on skin, ragged-edge

pediculosis-head lice

psoriasis-chronic inflammation of the skin producing silvery scales and redness

ecchymosis-black and blue mark caused by breakage of blood vessels

emollient-lotions and other ingredient to sooth the skin.

jaundice-yellow tinge to the skin

keloid- overgrowth to scar tissue

leukoplakia- condition of white patches on the surface of the skin

macule-dark color spot on the skin, flat

nevus-mole, birthmark black in color

pallor-paleness, white coloration and change in coloration to red to blue, ect., color of face and body surfaces

papule-solid skin elevation, small

petechia-pinpoint skin hemorrhage

pruritus-severe itching

purpura-purple-red discoloration of the skin caused by hemorrhages into the tissue

pustule-skin elevation full of pus, elevated

ulcer -open sore

verruca -wart

vesicle-blister

wheal-hive, round elevation with a with center and red on outer rim
